December 29th Recap & Application of Pastor Kevyn’s Sermon Notes: The Messianic Hope- Part 5

Pastor Kevyn’s sermon “A Child Born to Fulfill God’s Plan for Man” centers on the Messianic hope found in Jesus, the child born to fulfill God's plan for humanity. Through Old Testament prophecies and the teachings of Jesus, we find assurance of God's love, His commitment to restoring our relationship with Him, and His ultimate plan for healing creation. Below is a breakdown of the key themes, scriptures, and practical applications for living a life rooted in this vision.

"God’s Plan for Man" – A Renewed Vision for 2025

1. God Has Proved His Love and Commitment to Healing Us

Isaiah 53:2-5
"For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of dry ground; He had no stately form or majesty That we would look at Him, Nor an appearance that we would take pleasure in Him. He was despised and abandoned by men, A man of great pain and familiar with sickness; And like one from whom people hide their faces, He was despised, and we had no regard for Him. However, it was our sicknesses that He Himself bore, And our pains that He carried; Yet we ourselves assumed that He had been afflicted, Struck down by God, and humiliated. But He was pierced for our offenses, He was crushed for our wrongdoings; The punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him, And by His wounds we are healed."

Matthew 20:28
"Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."

Application:

  • Recognize God’s Sacrificial Love: Reflect daily on how Jesus bore your pain and sin on the cross, understanding that His love knows no limits.

  • Live in Gratitude: Embrace a life of humility and service, following the example of Jesus who came to serve and to save.

  • Be a Vessel of Healing: Share the message of hope and healing found in Jesus with those around you.

The Value of the Dead Sea Scrolls:
The discovery of the Great Isaiah Scroll confirms the accuracy and timeless nature of God's Word.

  • Confidence in Scripture: Let the reliability of prophecy strengthen your faith in God’s Word as truth.

  • God Speaks Clearly: Listen for God’s voice in Scripture and trust His promises for your life.

2. God Has Revealed His Commitment to a Meaningful Relationship with Us

Ezekiel 11:19-20
"And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within them. And I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, so that they may walk in My statutes, and keep My ordinances and do them. Then they will be My people, and I shall be their God."

John 17:3
"And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."

John 17:22-23
"The glory which You have given Me I also have given to them, so that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and You loved them, just as You loved Me."

Application:

  • Heart Transformation: Pray for a softened heart and renewed spirit to follow God’s ways with love and obedience.

  • Deepen Your Relationship with God: Spend intentional time knowing God through His Word and prayer, understanding that eternal life begins with intimacy with Him.

  • Pursue Unity: Live out the unity Jesus prayed for by fostering peace and reconciliation in your relationships.

Vision for 2025: A Deeper Relationship with God

Living Daily in the Light of Our Relationship to God

Matthew 23:8-11
"But as for you, do not be called Rabbi; for only One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers and sisters. And do not call anyone on earth your father; for only One is your Father, He who is in heaven. And do not be called leaders; for only One is your Leader, that is, Christ. But the greatest of you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled, and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted."

Application:

  • Focus on Servanthood: Let humility define your interactions with others, seeking to serve rather than be served.

  • God as Father: Rejoice in the privilege of calling God your Father. Approach Him daily with reverence and childlike trust.

Living Daily in Prayer and Connection with God

Matthew 6:9-13
"Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.’"

Application:

  • Daily Prayer: Use the Lord’s Prayer as a model for your own prayers, covering worship, submission, provision, forgiveness, and guidance.

  • Intentional Conversations with God: Make time each day to speak with God about your hopes, fears, and needs, seeking His will above all else.

Application Summary: A Renewed Vision for 2025

  1. Confidence in Prophecy and Scripture: Let the fulfilled prophecies about Jesus strengthen your faith in God’s plan and promises.

  2. Living as a Servant: Emulate Jesus’ humility by prioritizing service and unity in your daily relationships.

  3. Deeper Relationship with God: Engage in heartfelt prayer and study of God’s Word, allowing it to transform your life.

  4. Hope and Healing: Live out the reality of God’s healing love by sharing His message of restoration and forgiveness with others.
