September 29th Recap & Application of Pastor Kevyn’s Sermon Notes: “Jesus Fulfills the Father’s Plans”
In Pastor Kevyn’s sermon, he reflects on how Jesus fulfilled God the Father’s plan to bless us and bring us into a relationship with Him. The Apostle Paul’s letter to the Ephesians lays out God’s intentions for humanity and how Jesus, the Messiah, accomplished everything necessary for us to enjoy a restored relationship with the Father. These teachings help us walk with purpose and hope, knowing we are part of God's divine plan.
1. The Father Blessed Us with Every Spiritual Blessing in the Unseen World
Ephesians 1:3
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”
God’s blessings transcend the physical world. He has provided spiritual riches that we often cannot see but that enrich our souls.
Action to Consider: Trust that even when circumstances seem challenging, God has already blessed you in ways that matter most—your spiritual life and relationship with Him. Daily, thank God for the unseen blessings of peace, grace, and strength, knowing they are more precious than material things. Seek to reflect God's heart by living in a way that values His spiritual blessings over the world’s temporary rewards.
2. The Father Chose Us to Be His Pride and Joy
Ephesians 1:4
“He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him in love.”
Before the world was created, God chose us to be His children, to reflect His glory, and to live holy lives in relationship with Him.
Action to Consider: Live with the knowledge that you were chosen by God before time began. This truth gives you purpose and value beyond anything the world can offer. Strive to live in holiness and love, reflecting the beauty of being God’s pride and joy. Remind yourself that your identity in Christ is unshakable, regardless of life’s challenges.
3. The Father Predetermined a Plan Through Jesus to Adopt Us
Ephesians 1:5-6
“He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will.”
God’s plan from the beginning was to adopt us into His family. Through Jesus, we are restored to a relationship with the Father, even when sin tried to disrupt that relationship.
Action to Consider: Embrace your identity as a child of God. Jesus came to heal and restore you into the family of God, so walk daily in the assurance that you belong to Him. Let this truth bring peace and security to your life. Whenever doubts arise, remember that your adoption into God’s family is part of His perfect plan.
4. In Jesus, We Have a Restored Relationship with the Father
Ephesians 1:7-8
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.”
Through Jesus, we have been redeemed—bought out of the control of sin and given forgiveness. Every cause for separation from God has been removed.
Action to Consider: Walk in the freedom of forgiveness. No matter your past mistakes, Jesus has restored you to the Father. Allow this truth to influence your relationships and how you live. Extend forgiveness to others, just as God has forgiven you. Daily thank God for redeeming you and cleansing you from the world’s influence.
5. In Jesus, We Know God’s Plan for Us
Ephesians 1:9-10
“He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him.”
God’s plan is no longer a mystery to us—He has revealed it through Jesus. We are part of God’s family, and He is building His household on earth, where He nurtures and cares for us.
Action to Consider: Take comfort in knowing that God’s plan for your life has been revealed through Jesus. You are part of God’s family, His household. Seek to live in alignment with this truth by nurturing your relationship with God and helping others grow in their faith. Serve and support one another in the family of God, just as He cares for you.
6. In Jesus, We Have an Inheritance
Ephesians 1:11-12
“In Him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will.”
As God’s children, we have an eternal inheritance waiting for us. Even in the midst of this life’s struggles, we can live with hope, knowing that God has secured a future for us beyond this world.
Action to Consider: Let the promise of your eternal inheritance shape how you live today. Don’t be discouraged by life’s difficulties—remember that something greater awaits you. Live with hope, knowing that your inheritance is secure and eternal. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and let this promise give you joy and perseverance in all circumstances.
Jesus' Work in the World
Primary Objective: Jesus came to establish a people who love and enjoy a relationship with God as much as He does.
Our Response: Talking to God is where it starts. Seeking to please Him follows.
Jesus Removed Obstacles: Jesus created a home on earth, the Church, where we can grow and mature in our faith.
Action to Consider: Start each day in prayer, communicating with God, and seeking to please Him in all you do. Remember that Jesus established the Church as a place where you can grow alongside other believers. Serve one another and build each other up, knowing that we are all part of the same family.
Our Goal: Becoming One and Serving One Another
Eternal Perspective: Because of Jesus, we know exactly where we are going and what we will enjoy for eternity.
Hopeful Future: We will live with the Father and Jesus in a world without death or evil forever.
Application: Let the certainty of your eternal future drive your actions today. Strive to become more united with your fellow believers, serving each other in love. Live with hope, knowing that no matter what happens in this life, you are headed for a future of joy, peace, and eternal life with God.
Conclusion
Knowing Jesus fulfills the Father’s plan gives us assurance and purpose in life. Jesus accomplished everything necessary to bring us into a restored relationship with God, and now we walk in His blessings. Keep reflecting on these truths as you live each day with hope, love, and joy, knowing that God’s plan for you is perfect and eternal.
