October 27th Recap & Application of Pastor Kevyn’s Sermon Notes: “God’s Heart for Family - Part 2”

Pastor Kevyn’s sermon encourages us to see ourselves as cherished members of God’s family, with our identity grounded in the eternal love of the Father. Let’s look at each verse and point as we strive to apply them in our daily lives.

Matthew 18:3-5 “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me.”

Action to Consider: Approach God with childlike humility and trust, remembering that greatness in His kingdom is defined by simplicity and reliance on Him. Each day, aim to release self-importance and embrace a heart of humble faith, welcoming others as Jesus would.

7 Displays of God’s Work to Bless People (Ephesians 1:3-14)

  1. Blessed Beyond Imagination (Ephesians 1:3)

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ."

Action to Consider: Recognize the abundance of God’s blessings in your life and live in gratitude. Reflect daily on His goodness, allowing thankfulness to guide your attitude and actions.

  2. Chosen as His Pride and Joy (Ephesians 1:4)
Application: You were chosen by God to be His beloved. Let this truth drive you to pursue a life that reflects His love, confidently sharing His joy and love with others.

  3. Predetermined Plan to Adopt Us (Ephesians 1:5-6)
Action to Consider: Understand that you’re an adopted child of God, chosen with purpose. Live out your calling with assurance, knowing you’re part of a divine family that stretches across all ages.

  4. Redemption and Forgiveness Through Jesus (Ephesians 1:7-8)
Action to Consider: Accept and extend forgiveness. Just as you have been redeemed, seek to forgive others and yourself, allowing God’s grace to free you from guilt and bitterness.

  5. Knowledge of God’s Plan (Ephesians 1:9-10)
Action to Consider: Embrace God’s plan with faith, even when you don’t see the whole picture. Trust in His wisdom, and seek His direction daily, knowing He is working all things together for good.

  6. Inheritance in Christ (Ephesians 1:11-12)
Action to Consider: Let the knowledge of your eternal inheritance shape your decisions. Live not for temporary pleasures but with an eternal mindset, pursuing what lasts forever.

  7. Sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14)
Action to Consider: You are secure in God’s family, marked by His Spirit. Walk confidently in your identity, trusting that The Holy Spirit guides, protects, and strengthens you in every step of your journey.

Understanding We Need to Grow (Ephesians 1:15-19)

  1. Knowing the Hope of His Calling

"I will build my church." – Matthew 16:18

Action to Consider: God has called you to be part of His family and His mission. Spend time each day understanding this hope, and seek ways to serve others as a reflection of your commitment to Christ.

  2. Knowing the Riches of His Inheritance

“This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” – John 17:3

Action to Consider: Value your relationship with God as the greatest treasure. Let this inheritance motivate you to know God more deeply through prayer, study, and worship.

  3. Knowing the Surpassing Greatness of His Power
Action to Consider: Be confident in God’s strength working in you and for you. As you face challenges, remind yourself of the power that raised Jesus and now lives within you. This assurance provides strength for each obstacle and faith for every unknown.

Summary

Reflect on these biblical truths as you walk with Jesus daily. Let the knowledge of God’s love, His blessings, and the power of the Holy Spirit inspire you to live with purpose and joy. Embrace humility, seek intimacy with the Father, and confidently share His love, knowing you’re a cherished member of His eternal family.
